Recent tests have shown that the Bailey Instruments monofilament accurately delivers the 10g force to bend. It is not affected by temperature and humidity changes as it is made of polymers, not nylon. (Matthew Young, Diabetic Foot Journal, Vol 11 no 3 2008)

The filament locks into place when fully extended. After use, the filament is retracted & locked into a casing to protect it.

It is recommended that the monofilament be replaced after 6 months regular use.
